Introduction to Positive Behaviour Support

Positive Supports for Everybody: An Introduction to Supporting People who use Challenging Behaviour

This course is designed to be part of an Induction for people new to the area of intellectual disabilities, challenging behaviour and positive behaviour support. The course is entirely online. You may read through this course and do the activities as often as you want to.

Objectives of the course:

  • To ensure all people with intellectual disabilities receive positive and appropriate support
  • To be able to identify what is (and what isn't) challenging behaviour
  • To understand that challenging behaviour is predictable and meaningful to the person who uses it
  • To understand the reasons why challenging behaviour occurs
  • To be able to describe the expected response to challenging behaviour

This is a fully online course designed to introduce the concepts of Positive Behaviour Support.

You need to log-on to see the course. The course is free. When you log on, we will store some basic information, so that we can see how many people are taking the course and completing it, and where they are from.
